Space-age Paradox

I was waiting for the bus at the bus stop. I was in no hurry to reach home, so I decided to wait and board the bus later. I was observing the commotion at the stop. I saw a man fidgeting with his phone. Then there was a boy sitting next to me busy working on his laptop while waiting for the bus. Then there was a girl with earphones plugged in moving her hands on the rhythm. All these things raised question in me. Where technology is taking us?
We have invented many types of machines that save a lot of time. A computer can do wonders within no time. In farming, it used to take several weeks to plough the fields, now we can do it in a few days. We don't have to wash our clothes by hand anymore- there's a washing machine. We don't have to go miles to fetch water, because it comes to our kitchen, our bathroom. We have developed thousands of ways to save labour and time, and yet we are much busier than our ancestors were. It is a contradiction. What is the reason?
All the technologies advancement have reduced our work but our minds are occupied like never before. We are always in a state of occupancy. What is the reason for this space-age paradox? Is it because that we have acquired so much that we always toil hard to keep them or is it because we have forgotten the wonders that nature provides in each and every moment to which our ancestors were connected? What is the answer to this?
