You can’t escape them. They are everywhere. Some are harmless, some are habitual, some predictable and some are bruising. They are our very own lies. A feeling that is kind of awesome-when the person is telling a lie and you know it and you are enjoying it. And when the speaker knows about it, the expression on the culprit’s face is like -What the hell? How does he know it? Height of embarrassment for him and height of amusement for you.
This is a collection of such amazingly funny (embarrassing) moments.
A friend of mine borrowed a novel from me. It is well known that a novel once given to a friend is least expected to be with you again. But I suddenly forgot this tradition as it was my sister’s book and she wanted it any cost. So I dialed my friend and asked him for the book. He announced that he had lost it. In the evening I went to his home and standing in front of his door I dialed him again asking him about his whereabouts. He told me that he was not at home and will be back tomorrow. But he was home and playing cricket on the roof. I called his name and asked him to come down announcing that I was not there for the lost book. His face was like “liar, liar, pants on fire”.
One of my friend who is into blogging posted a very impressive blog but unfortunately he copied it from a popular blog. I congratulated him for his amazing show of writing (“plagiarism”) and I added how come he managed such creative ideas? He dived into self-praise mode. In the evening I commented with the link of the original work on his post. Within few hours he removed the post and I received a text saying “F*** you”.
Now it’s time for a traditional lie. Minor exams were going on and after the first exam I asked the topper of my class “how her exam went?” She replied with a frowning face that it was crap. I smiled and moved on. Next week teacher distributed the answer scripts and announced that “topper” has topped again and gave us her answer script to get inspired and learn how to write a university exam. The sheet was a ditto copy of the book and I was like this is what she meant when she said “CRAP”. I asked her the same and she explained that it was all luck. I laughed uncontrollably and she fumed secretly.
If I start scratching my mind and get all about these incidents I guess even 400 pages would not suffice (Don’t consider this a lie).
Be yourself, speak truth. No one ever died because of it. Though no one even died of lies but lies are always heavy to carry.
So “Stay true, stay happy.”
